Our guide brings together representative fountain pens from Montblanc, Pelikan, PILOT and SAILOR. Models are grouped into Small, Medium and Large by capped length, with diameter or width listed separately to help you explore our 3-, 5-, 10- and 20-pen cases.

Our 3- and 5-pen cases are 16 cm high, with 18 mm slots. The 10- and 20-pen cases are 17 cm high, with slot widths of 20 mm and 22 mm respectively. Whether you carry a few everyday favourites or organise a growing collection, this chart offers a helpful starting point.

Pen dimensions are primarily sourced from each brand’s official website and catalogues, for reference. The Pelikan M200 entry uses retailer-published specifications for the stated edition. 

Measurement methods vary: some brands list barrel diameter, others maximum diameter or overall width including the clip. These differences are noted in the chart.

The circles, triangles and crosses indicate preliminary dimensional comparisons, rather than verified fit tests. Actual fit also depends on the cap, clip, usable internal length and zipper clearance.
